Betel is Spanish for Bethel (meaning House of God) and a ministry of WEC International
Betel is a unique international church-planting ministry dedicated to harmonising church life, residential living and charitable businesses to restore men and women affected by the hardships that lead to homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, and long-term unemployment.
Betel isn’t a rehab or a clinical counselling programme; instead it provides an alternative model of recovery which has radically transformed many lives that were formerly in chaos. We place emphasis on the restoration of the whole person through values inspired by the Gospel.
Our residences welcome more than 2,000 men and women for free in more than 100 cities in Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Africa and Australia
Since we welcomed our first man from the streets of Madrid in 1985, we have helped tens of thousands of homeless and drug and alcohol-dependent people. Betel’s residences offer a safe, family atmosphere and are free from drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
Our end goal is to help people not only escape addiction, but become productive, trustworthy men and women of character when they leave our community.
An internship at Betel has to do with empathy and communication skills, but above all with a heart willing to serve, showing a genuine interest in the well-being of our residents who are in the process of rebuilding their lives.
